Role of School Inspection in the management of Primary Education in Danmusa Local Government Education Area, Katsina State

The study aimed to examine the role of school inspection in the management of primary
education in Danmusa Local Government, Katsina State. This study investigated the
correlation between the school inspection and management of primary education in Danmusa
Local Government, Katsina State. The study employed an exploratory correlational research
design. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated. A total number 196
of school inspectors and teachers were drawn from the 379total population as sample for this
study using Research Advisors (2006). In selecting respondents by schools, proportionate sampling
technique was used. A random sampling procedure was used in selecting the respondents from each
sampled school. Questionnaire was used for data collection. To ascertain the content validity of the
instrument used for this study, lecturers from the Department of Educational Foundations at
Federal University Dutsinma were given the instrument to ascertain its content validity. To
establish the reliability of the instrument, reliability test was conducted and the result was 0.73.
Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient was applied to test hypotheses. The result of
the finding revealed that there is a strong positive relationship between the school inspections
as it is in the relationship with management of staff development in Danmusa Local
Government Area and also indicated that the relationship between school inspections is
strongly positive as in the relationship with school community relationship in Danmusa Local
Government. The study concludes that, school inspections contribute significantly to the
overall enhancement of primary education in Danmusa Local Government Area. Based on the
findings the study recommended among others that Local Government Education Authority
and Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board should provide training and development
opportunities to enhance inspectors' skills and knowledge and also engage local communities,
parents, and stakeholders in the inspection process to foster ownership and collaboration.
